Welcome to Pennyghael Estate
on the Isle of Mull
Pennyghael is a landscape scale highland estate located on the picturesque Isle of Mull. The estate comprises a mixture of habitats and land uses across more than 10,000 acres. Sitting on the Ross of Mull and spanning from the cliffs on the southern side and the shores of Loch Scridain to the north, the estate is notable for its ecological and historical importance to the island.
Pennyghael Estate includes both commercial and amenity woodland and a significant portion of open hill ground. Home to a number of habitats and ecosystems, Pennyghael is home to a healthy population of red deer and sea eagles as well as other notable species including mountain goats and various types of butterfly.
Easily accessible via the ferry from Oban, Pennyghael is a 40-minute drive from Craignure, a 30-minute drive down to Fionnphort allowing you to explore Iona; and an hour’s drive into Tobermory, the largest town on the Island and home to the famous colourful houses.
The land at Pennyghael Estate has been inhabited since c.600BC and has been home to many people between then and now. As the current custodians of the land, it is our intention to protect and enhance the heritage of this section of the island.
